This is
the commercial MS DOS section. Here you can find commercial Boulderdash
games that run in MS DOS (an Operating System). MS
DOS (Microsoft Disk Operating System) is the Operating System software
developed for 16-bit Intel processors and shipped with the first IBM
PCs, and until the introduction of Microsoft Windows. DOS uses a
command-line user interface.
Because MS-DOS
was used on older PCs, the games designed for DOS don't work very well
on the modern PCs anymore. Especially Windows XP has a lot of problems
with them, because it does not have a DOS interface anymore. You could
try the
DOSGames.com Windows XP hints to
fix those problems. Another
option is using a DOS emulator like
DOSBox.
That's a program to
imitate the old MS-DOS Operating System.
Below are the MS DOS
games. Download them and enjoy!

Blow
Up! is a classic oldie, dating from 1987. It is a game to be run on MSX
computers. These computers also support MS DOS. The game has got very
simple graphics and sounds, but is nevertheless fun because of its many
different types of objects and enemies. The name refers to the way how
the game works: you have to shoot your enemies (and the 'gems' you have
to collect can be shot as well)! Despite its very simple graphics, I would recommend this
little game to everyone who wants to play nostalgic games from ancient
times...

Bluppo
is a great underwater adventure. The goal is to collect a certain
number of fish to open the exit and exit the level. It features 80
single player levels and 80 teamwork levels. It was written in
Assembler.

Boulder
Dash, the game it al started with... Dig with Rockford through the
caves and collect the diamonds. Watch out for enemies, such as
butterflies.

Boulder
Dash II: Rockford's Revenge (or 'Rockford's Riot' on other platforms)
is the official sequel to Boulder Dash.

The
third official sequel to Boulder Dash, but it's also known as Boulder
Dash IV (because there's also another Boulder Dash III game). The
Boulder Dash Construction Kit was the first Boulder Dash game with a
level editor. With this editor, hundreds of new levels have been
created!

A
space-themed Boulderdash clone with 32 levels. It has many distinctive
elements, such as switches, drinks (immunity or drunkenness), deadly
fungus, etc. Waiting too long turns the earth into (deadly) fungus. The
full version provides a level editor and a cheat mode.

Guide
Duff, a
little fat guy, through 16 levels. Pick up the needed amount of skulls
(shown in the status bar) and then proceed to the exit before time runs
out. Struggle your way through the water and avoid deadly objects. The
general game speed is a bit slow. It includes a level editor but the
levels can only be played in the full version.

A
small, bearded, delightful Elf has to perform a special task to prove
his skill and ingenuity: collecting all of the hearts in each level
and exit through the door! Heartlight appeared in the normal version
(with 50 levels) in in the Deluxe version (with 70 levels).

In
Chien (the French word for 'dog') you must help a little dog to eat the
minimum of bones as indicated. When you have finished that, the dog can
enter its doghouse and will pass to the next level.

Lomax
Boulders is the first part of a series about a red heart (instead of
Rockford), called Logan Maxwell, as the main character. It contains 50
levels with six different difficulty degrees to choose from and with
adjustable speed. You can play this game with up to six players.

The
second part of a series called Lomax Boulders II: Sea of Diamonds with
Logan Maxwell in the leading role. There are 50 new levels waiting for
you again!

Part
III of the Lomax Boulders series. This time with a better gameplay and
some new gadgets, such as level codes.

Lomax
Boulders IV: Logan Returns is already the fourth part of the Lomax
Boulders series. Again 50 new levels and new music! The levels are more
focused on action than on thinking this time.

The
final game in the Lomax Boulders series with again 50 levels and some
bonus stages.

A
German Boulderdash clone designed for very old PC's (8086 with EGA) and
it's too fast to play on modern computers. The full version features
scrolling, more enemies, etc. A level editor is included. You can
download some additional levels as a screenshot
here.
Unfortunately, I don't have the game for download, so if you have this
game (the shareware or the full version), please mail me.

Rockford
is the last game in the Boulder Dash series by Peter Liepa (First Star
Software).
Compared with the first part of the series, Rockford is very colourful
and has animated cutscenes which the first part didn't have. The game
has themed levels.

Supaplex
is one of the most successful Boulderdash clones around. It's all about
an orange, hungry character called Murphy, who has to collect an amount
of so-called infotrons in electronic environment. The game has a very
gay atmosphere what makes this game so successful. Many people have
created extra levels with the many editors which exist. The game is
abandonware, which means that it's still a commercial game, but not
sold anywhere anymore. Therefore you can just download the whole
version.
Go to Supaplex's own
page!

Not
a Boulderdash clone on itself, but a compilation of Boulderdash I and
Boulder Dash II: Rockford's Revenge.
